* Athos, the unique Monk Republic is an hour drive from the resort, on the third peninsula. Most of the monasteries and temples of "Mount Athos" may be only visited by male tourists.
* North Halkidiki has the most dense forest area of Greece with mountain villages in which time stands still, as well as places of ancient history.
* The museum and Royal Tombs of King Philippos II, father of Alexander the Great, are at the archeological site of "Vergina", 180 km to the north.
* The "Meteora" rocks and its Byzantine monasteries could be part of a sensational "for your eyes only" excursion by helicopter.
