Thus, practically, the whole island turned to be buried under the products of the volcano's activity. However, the highest area 'survived' and, gradually, was settled by people. Now this is one of the favorite places of tourists all over the world. That 's why the island has a lot of hotels and villas. The Lampetia Villas is a residence, that Santorini can truly be proud of. Constructed in the 19th century, the hotel possesses a lovely design and modern facilities, as it was reconstructed recently.
