  Ios Island is one of the most loved Greek island by young people. There you can find all the ingredients of an island you dream of - it's the magnet island for the young.

  There are many theories about the origin of the island's name but a likely one is that it derives from the violets ("ion" in Greek) which adorn the hillsides in springtime. Others say the name comes from the Ionian people who inhabited these islands around 1050 BC.

  It is the place where the great poet Homer was burried , Ios is one of the most beautiful villages in the Cyclades with its dazzling whitewashed houses and steep narrow lanes, its small squares and blue domed churches.

  The island has also some fantastic beaches with blue crystal water, and off course the most lively party nights you can imagine. The most popular beach in Ios is Mylopotas, one kilometer of golden sand, just 3 km from Chora and 5 km from the port.

  If you can sleep to te beat of the disco, Ios is an island for you.

  But except the crazy nightlife and parties, Ios has much more to offer; plenty of secluded bays where the party set never ventures. There are peaceful seafood tavernas where you can savour the day's catch and if you're visiting during one of the island's many religious festivals you'll be able to join the locals for a traditional Greek knees-up.

  Ios is not just a place for young and wild people, it offers space for everyone - from the sun and relaxation seeking person to the wild party animal.
